Walking in Summer Rain

I woke up on Saturday morning to the constant sound of light rains. The much needed rain after the hottest week of the year also brought the temperature down!  I decided to go out for a solo walk as Lily was away on a road trip.

It was cool (72F) and wet, it felt great as I stepped out of the door.

There was nobody in the street. It was quiet except the 'ti ta ti ta' sound of rain drops hitting my umbrella and much lighter 'tee tee', 'tee tee' sound  of the rain hitting the ground, and the sound of my footsteps.

I felt like I was in Spring except the green is so much darker.

My surroundings became more lively as I approached the community park.

A flock of sparrows resting on a steel rope took off, swirled in the air for a few seconds and returned to the rope. A grand egret stood at the edge of the water, looking for its breakfast to come.  A jogger passed me around the pound in the opposite direction without an umbrella - he really soaked it in!

I passed a deck by the pound. When I looked back at the deck, to my pleasant surprise,  I saw two grey herons resting on the deck. They were enjoying this pleasant Saturday morning as I did. On the other side of the pound a large group of ducks, which are typically in the water, were on the land wandering around.

As I walked back to our street, the street was still quiet, the rain was still falling with soothing sound!
