Chisholm Trail at Plano

Chisholm trail at Plano is a paved bike/hiking trail along spring creek, the long diagonal green belt in the following chart. The trail is 5.6 mile long one way from end to end, and available on both side of the creek most of the time. There are two big advantages of this trail, it is well shaded for good portion, and it uses underpasses to cross major roads.

For this Sunday's 10k run,   we decided to run on this trail instead of our usual route around our neighborhood. Since there is no parking at Legacy trail head, we drove to the intersection of Independence Parkway and San Simeon Way, where the trail crossing independence park way via an underpass, and parked our car on San Simeon Way around 7:30am.

It was a beautiful morning, blue sky, bright sun shine and green landscape.

We started running towards Legacy trail head (the closer trail head) primarily for exploration of the trail, and checking the parking space along the trail. This portion of the trail is very well shaded, and right by the creek.

Turing around at the legacy trail head, we ran on the other side (east) of the creek. This side of trail ends at the Independence, we had to use pedestrian side walk to get to the other side of creek and used the underpass to cross Independence parkway.

Along the way, it passes quite a few community parks and there were not too many people on the trail. It was quiet out there, we only heard our footsteps and breath most of the time. When we did see runners, joggers, dog walkers or bikers, we greeted or waved to them. Beautiful scenery, nice people, it felt great!

The longer distance we ran on this trail, the more we liked it! But we did not ran all the way to other end of the trail, turned around at 5km distance.

Chisholm trail instantly becomes our favorite trail!
