Golden Gate Bridge

We visited Bay Area in the last week of November. The original plan was to meet Lily's client first after getting off the plane. But the client was sick and we had to change plan.

We decided to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge from the south end.  Unfortunately I missed the exit to Golden Gate Bridge Visitor center at the south side of the bridge and had to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and exited to Vista Point at the north side of the Bridge. Vista point actually was a better location for us - we did not visit this location before, and it has a clear panorama view of downtown San Francisco.

We got to Vista Point at Golden Gate Bridge around 3pm local time. After looking at east Bay, downtown San Francisco at Vista point, we walked onto the bridge, joined the few people walking across the bridge which were mostly young couples.

It was a clear, windy and cool day. The Sun was at southwest direction, beautiful views in every direction we looked at. Walking on the bridge is different from viewing it from afar - the feel of the sheer size of the suspension tower and the size of the cables, the crescent moon, the contrast of red and blue … During the walk we also noticed that there were people looking down at the bridge from the top of a hill by the Vista point, which turned out to be Battery Spencer.

From Vista point to the cable ending at the other side, we walked about 5km round trip in brisk pace, and completed the walk before 4:30pm and left Golden Gate Bridge ahead of rush hour.

The next day was a beautiful day again, we went to Rodeo beach hiking instead of originally planned going to Point Ryes National Seashore on the day after next day.  I will have a different blog for that trip. After the hike, we went to Bonita Light House and Seal Rock, which happen to be next to each other. It was beautiful and  quiet there, further more we had a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge from west side.

We saw Golden Gate Bridge from East during our November 2018 visit to bay area from treasure island and Berkeley Hill.

This iconic landmark is worth visiting and looking at from every direction.
